I have always intended for this Journal to be a conversation of significance to minds of superior quality and character. I do not believe that lasting and positive change can come on the whims of the masses, nor do I believe that matters of serious gravity should be reduced to the superficial in order to make them suitable for mass consumption. No, I believe that the fate of a society rests with the members of that society capable of creating, or producing, or affecting things, and of achieving outcomes. I can’t estimate with any sort of reason what percentage of this modern America constitutes that demographic. I only hope to reach enough of them to spark the conversation. I hope to make it known that there are people out here in the world thinking about such things. That there are some of us who value principles like reason, self-reliance, individual liberty, and justice.
I publish these entries irregularly, because I want to speak only when I feel I have something to say that’s worth sharing. I would rather remain circumspect and flesh ideas out than publish something for the sake of publishing. As such, I have decided it is best that these entries be, now and always, free to read, with or without subscription. I’ll never change that. The barrier to access is nothing more than a willingness to wrestle with the ideas here. My goal is as it has always been - reaching significant minds individually rather than trying to reach masses superficially.
The D’Anconia Journal is one small lighthouse among many. A signal for others to see when they happen across this particular patch of coastline. There are others that shine far brighter and reach much farther, and I am glad for it. In the interest of doing my part, I’d like to ask you for a small favor.
Over the next few months, please look back over the 70-odd entries I’ve posted these past couple of years. Find one that resonated with you personally and share it with someone who doesn’t know this Journal exists. I would like to see our readership here increase by as many significant minds as the current readership sees fit to introduce. You have undoubtedly noticed over the past two years my shift from philosophical detachment to a more personal call to action. If you’ve read these essays, you also fully understand why. Please lend me a hand by expanding the readership of this Journal to those you think would benefit from it. Share it in the groups you deem proper and pass it along to those who you look up to, respect, or admire. If it’s of any benefit to you, then please help me to reach other minds like yours.
Thank you, all.
